IMM Boatlifts "Slack Attacker"

U.S. Patent # 6935807 B2

Since the introduction of the first boatlift, the number one problem has been slack cables. If the cradle hits bottom, or floats, or has the weight taken off, for any reason, the cables get slack. This causes the cables to cross, and tangle. Consequently the lift will not function properly, and the cables will fail.
Every boatlift manufacturer without exception has tried to solve this problem. No solution has even come close, UNTIL NOW! Actually many of the attempted solutions, such as “Cable Keepers”, and “Wipers” damage the cables, and do not prevent the problem.

“THE SLACK ATTACKER” uses a totally different, and unique approach. “THE SLACK ATTACKER” replaces the “Deadman”. This is the point where the cable end attaches to the top beam.. “THE SLACK ATTACKER” consists of a pulley housing, and a counter weight.

The photo above shows the position of the counter weight with the weight of the cradle hanging on the cable. The weight is up against the pulley housing, which acts as a stop.
This photo shows the position of the weight with the cradle resting on bottom. Note: how the weight has lowered itself, thereby maintaining tension on the cable. It almost sounds too simple, but it really works. Simple and Functional.
